Safety of Nurses in the Workplace

The safety of nurses from workplace-related injuries and illnesses is important to nurses themselves as well as to the patients they serve. Many nurses also face a growing problem across the nation: nurse abuse and violence against nurses. According to the American Nurses Association, 1 in 4 nurses have been assaulted at work. The likelihood of health care workers being exposed to violence is higher than security guards or police officers. The infographic below shows various statistics regarding the safety of nurses:
